I don't know why Vinny and Hartman Schmaltz were broken up last year or why Vinny was ever sent down . The team itself was playing some of it's best hockey at the time that line was together . I can't see why that line is not together . Then DBC with AA and Kane .Toews and Saad Panik . . To me it looks easy ,but I am not a hall of fame coach ,with 3 cup Rings . So there is that

I have a hard time envisioning the Hawks "crushing" anyone these days.

That 10-1 win on opening night seems like 2 years ago now.

I will remain optimistic though that they keep getting a high amount of shots and a couple bounce go their way... and they gain some momentum.

So Sharp then slots down to the 4th line or the pressbox? That's not happening any time soon.

At this point the only person in the lineup that maybe gets swapped out for Vinny is Bouma, and we all know that Q isn't making that move just yet.

just do it. It's not like they have a goaltender.

Sure seems like it, but that 10-1 outcome was a kinda "perfect storm" of circumstances.

#1) the Penguins D is horrible and all of them had a particularly bad game that day. Lots of bad pinches and hawks odd man rushes.
#2) Horrendous goaltending by the Pens. Niemi let in a few he should have had, and it snowballed from there and Murray couldn't stop the onslaught
#3) most importantly, the Hawks played a much simpler game that night. More North South and not as many globetrotter attempts. Straight lines into the zone and bodies crashing the net. How many of the 10 were scored from within a few feet of the net.

Yeah, curious about that second line. Wondering which D pair he matches with them; gotta get the puck in the zone.

And, of course, my daily, well, if ADB doesn't do anything on this line maybe he gets sent down for Hino. But, ADB hasn't really played with Kane much so maybe Q tries flipping he and Sharp at some point if things aren't working out.

I think this roster should play better than hit has been, but I also think this roster isn't good enough to win a cup this year or projecting into the future. The team needs reinforcements.

That's the problem...Chicago has a tendency of making bad or rookie goalies look like Patrick Roy.

Out of any of the lines the 2nd one has the speed and size with Panik and Saad to be able to dump the puck in and go get it back.

Yep. It could be a great possession line if they win enough of the dump-ins. D should get some shots off. It has interesting potential if they can make it work. Worth trying.

Didn't they put Kane and Toews together last year, that didn't really work out well, actually it looked like Kane became frustrated with Toews.

So, i dont really see line 1 doing much tonight, Sharp has little tread left on his tires, and Toews offensive instincts have disappeared more and more

Jimmy C needs to be put to pasture with Q and McD. They all exceeded their shelf life

Nice write up Justin

Hate the 3rd line its awfully small, and will be pushed off the puck all night. Scouting report just worry about Hartman in front of the net, that line will be blown up by the 30 minute mark

comparative 5 on 5 shot rates so far this year...

Chicago about as average as it gets.

Canes have to score eventually, right?
